Clothing Requirements for the swimming diplomas

A number of diplomas involve swimming with clothing. The type of clothing required varies per diploma. The overview below shows the clothing requirements for each diploma. During the pre-test and during the exam for the relevant diplomas, it is of course necessary for your child to bring the required clothing. During the lessons, there will of course also be practice with clothing. Your child’s instructor will let you know when your child needs to bring clothing.

Swim-ABC Clothing Requirements

Clothing requirements A diploma and B diploma

  • Swimwear
  • T-shirt or shirt with long sleeves.
  • Long trousers, dress or skirt up to the ankles (long trousers that are seamless to the skin are not allowed).
  • Shoes (plastic, leather, cotton and sports shoes are allowed; shoes without a real sole are not allowed).

 

Clothing requirements C diploma

  • Swimwear
  • T-shirt or shirt with long sleeves.
  • Long trousers, dress or skirt up to the ankles (long trousers that are seamless to the skin are not allowed).
  • Jacket with long sleeves.
  • Shoes (plastic, leather, cotton and sports shoes are allowed; shoes without a real sole are not allowed).

Clothing requirements swimming proficiency diplomas

Clothing requirements zwemvaardigheid 1, 2 en 3 (basic diploma)

The clothing requirements are the same as those for swimming diploma B of the Swim-ABC:

  • Swimwear
  • T-shirt or shirt with long sleeves
  • Long trousers (long trousers that are seamless to the skin are not allowed)
  • Shoes (plastic, leather and sports shoes are allowed; shoes without a real sole are not allowed).

Instead of trousers + shirt, candidates are allowed to wear a long-sleeved dress or a long-sleeved skirt + shirt. The dress / skirt must reach over the knee.

  • Swimwear
  • Long jeans (the trousers should have a dense fabric, to be inflated and used as buoyancy aid)
  • Shirt with long sleeves
  • Shoes

Candidates are allowed to wear a long-sleeved blouse instead of a long-sleeved shirt.

  • Swimwear
  • Long (denim) trousers
  • Long-sleeved shirt
  • Rain jacket (the jacket must have an airtight fabric, to be inflated and used as a buoyancy aid)
  • Shoes

Candidates are allowed to wear a long-sleeved blouse instead of a long-sleeved shirt. It is also permissible for candidates to wear a long-sleeved dress or long-sleeved skirt/blouse instead of trousers/blouse. The dress/skirt should reach up to the ankle.
